“Morning Henry,” Grandpa said, as I plonked myself down in a chair.

“I’m Will, Grandpa,” I reminded him.

“Juice?” he asked.

“Yes, please. Where’s Rex?” I asked.

“In the greenhouse. I thought he’d feel at home among the tomato plants,” replied Grandpa.

I shook my head and ran out of the kitchen, through the house and onto the lawn. As you can imagine, Grandpa’s yard and gardens are huge. I sprinted over the grass, jumped over the vegetable patches and ran past the pond until I finally found the greenhouse.

At first I couldn’t see anything, just loads of leafy tomato plants that looked like a small jungle. But then the leaves of the plants started rustling and Rex waddled towards me. He already looked bigger than he did when he’d hatched.

As I ran towards him, Rex dropped the raw steak he was chewing and looked happy to see me. I carefully patted his bald, cold head. He purred and tried to nip me with his teeth.

“No, Rex. Bad T-rex! No biting!”

He blinked at me and then went back to his steak.

I watched him devour his meaty meal and dribble all over the floor. I wasn’t sure how I’d ever be able to play with him – his teeth were as sharp as daggers. But, happy that Rex was OK, I went back inside.
